Ugh! Not another one! Yep, I got carried away, distracted, too tired, or just a encountered bit of Murphy's law. This owl has a nice little hidden voodoo treasure that for the life of me I couldn't remove! Not another broken needle! Oh yes, yes indeed. My cousin named her Medusa and it seems quite fitting. Sorry, I can't just abandon a work in progress even though I know it will never make it to market. So, why not enjoy the opportunity for getting weird? This is the cosmos telling me to really, yes, really, take some time off! Since my cousin named her, she can keep the useless little creature safely on a shelf as a fragrant oddity that should never ever be cuddled or used as a sqooshy sponge. Maybe, if the need ever arrises, Medusa can be used to peg an intruder?

Things were going good with this little guy until..I broke the needle and it dissappeared into the soap! I said a word viciously and attempted to locate the broken end of the needle and pull it out without success. So then I just said to heck with it! I can never finish and sell this owl!! But the word I said inspired me, so I just kept on going with it. This owl got stuck with some odd tendrils. The little guy also got stuck with red wonky eyes and some lopsided wings. By the time I finished, the word I had first said morphed into another term which I think fits this critter perfectly. I attempted to turn the odd tendrils into dreads, and it didn't quite work-oh well. I gave him a thorough bath to see how he held up, and he did. I was gentle because I feared that hidden needle! I don't know if I will keep giving him baths because I have become rather attached to him, and FUBAR definitely describes some days perfectly. It also won't get a person into social trouble when in polite company like that other word will.

I have not been particularly enthused about doing any felted soap until I realised all of the possibilities! It didn't have to be just a wrapped up felted bar or oval of soap, it didn't have to be flat, smooth, etc. So, I gave it a go on a tangent. This particular fuzzy little owl is felted around pure unscented 100% olive oil cold processed Castile soap.  My daughter sent a picture to one of her friends and I am making her a Rosemary and Tea Tree scented owl in the colors of her choice. These owls don't happen overnight, but if one doesn't mind a premade base soap, then it only takes a couple of days because I am not a speedy felter.  The felting process is by far the most time consuming aspect since I combine two techniques. I have a boring old bar of felted Castile for my own bath at the moment, and alas-no owl for myself! Would you like an owl? Since I currently have no stockpile, contact me and I will try my best to get yours done before Christmas if you would like an owl that differs from the colors and scents that are listed for sale.
